Abstract

This article analyzes contemporary definitions of media literacy and related conceptual approaches. The essence of media literacy and its interconnections with communication, information technologies, and social consciousness are elucidated based on theoretical sources. The study comparatively analyzes leading approaches developed in global practice, particularly cognitive, cultural, critical, and technological approaches. Additionally, the policy implemented in Uzbekistan on developing media literacy, its integration into the educational process, and its role in protecting the younger generation from information attacks are substantiated with practical examples. The article concludes with insights on effective methods and scientific-theoretical foundations for enhancing media literacy.
