Abstract

The article examines the gender dimensions of civic journalism through the analysis of both international and national practices. The author highlights the role of civic journalism in amplifying women’s voices, promoting equality, and fostering social justice. Global studies indicate that women journalists frequently face online harassment and discrimination, limiting their participation in the digital sphere. In Uzbekistan, the development of civic journalism aligns with the state’s “For Human Dignity” policy; however, gender balance in the media remains insufficient. The paper proposes implementing gender-sensitive journalism training programs, introducing gender indicators in media policy, and supporting women bloggers to strengthen inclusivity and equality in the information space.
