Abstract
The work is devoted to proving the thesis according to which a type of media education and journalism itself in a given country is formed in conformity with the type of state structure and the main vector of its development - democratic or authoritarian. At the same time, as far as Uzbekistan is concerned, here too the course for the development of democratic institutions taken by President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev predetermines both the vector of development of journalism education in the country and of journalism and national media in general. To substantiate the theses, the work implements a comparative analysis of educational practices in Russia and the USA, as well as graphically depicts the dynamics in the rating indicators of freedom of speech and media in the USA and Russia.
